The Herb Garden Café in Llandrindod Wells. (45Kb)

Lunchtime booking is always advisable (phone 01597 823082).
On weekdays between 12 noon and 2.00 we often are very busy. To be sure of a table call in or 'phone.
In addition you can avoid queuing by 'phoning in advance to order your meal. We will then be able to serve you promptly. However, we do not make the final decision on the lunchtime special dishes until 9.00 a.m. each day.
So, for our quickest service, reserve a table, then 'phone ahead to find out what's on the menu. (Call us at least 30 minutes before your reservation, please.)

Vegetarian food is our speciality, though excellent meat dishes are also available (meats are purchased from local farms).
Wherever possible supplies are sourced locally and organic produce is our first choice.
  • Speciality dishes freshly cooked every day
  • Imaginative snack menu
  • Soup tureen (always vegetarian) with free refills. The rolls are baked in our kitchen every day. They're dairy-free, organic, vegan and extraordinarily good. (On busy days demand may outstrip supply of fresh rolls, so we might have to fall back on the spares in the freezer.)
  • Genuinely home-made and succulent cakes
  • Fine coffee and tea
  • Home-made chutneys, pickles, jams, marmalade (try toast with our own Seville Orange Marmalade, or a bacon sandwich with Sweet Tomato Chutney)
  • Fully licensed to serve alcoholic beverages.
Staff are happy to cater for dietary needs such as dairy-free and gluten-free.
Goats' milk is available, the dairy-free chocolate brownies are to die for ...

Proprietor Sally Bramhall, who created the Herb Garden, says This is a different approach to eating out in Llandrindod Wells. We are concentrating on local organic produce and we are developing links with local organizations like the Bracken Trust and the Credit Union.

The Herb Garden is located next to the Co-op (which used to be Somerfield). Click this link for a map

The Menu does NOT tell you about the daily special lunchtime dishes - a constantly changing list of recipes which we prepare in our own kitchen.
Soon there will be a link here to give the specials day by day. Maybe.

FRIDAY EVENINGS

Once a month we open for a special shindig with a party atmosphere. We sometimes explore regional cuisine - we've done Greek, Spanish, Welsh, Mexican and Cajun, and forgotten a load more. Appropriate LIVE music is thrown in with our compliments. See this for a recent example

The Herb Garden Café is the only Llandrindod eatery featured in the Observer's Little Britain article 24th August 2008

Stanier Black Five 45407, Lancashire Fusilier, strains to start a train-load of Herb Garden diners. 210kb.

Llandrindod railway station is just behind the café. Here we see Stanier Class locomotive 45407, the Lancashire Fusilier, straining to get a special excursion train moving on July 3rd 2010, after a good many of its passengers had spent a two hour watering stop enjoying our lunches. The Herb Garden Café is hidden by the trees, roughly level with the signal box (you can just about see the gable end of the box through the smoke).
